ABOUT ME

I am a compassionate and down-to-earth therapist and have been on my own healing journey from the traumas I have lived through and their impacts on my life. This means that as well as ‘talking the talk’, I have ‘walked the walk’, and I have benefitted from every tool in my toolbox in a personal way. I am passionate about helping people towards their own path of healing and witnessing this brings me genuine joy and a sense of privilege.

Pura Vida is a Costa Rican term, literally translating as Pure Life. Its ethos is about connectivity within ourselves, to others and the natural world and about cultivating a sense of gratitude by appreciating the small stuff and being in the present. Finding a pace of life that is right for us and listening to what we need. My time in Costa Rica and learning from the wisdom of the people and their indigenous traditions had such a profound impact on me, that I strive towards Pura Vida for myself and what it can represent in therapy. 

I am part of the LGBTQ+ community, and I am an anti-racist practitioner. I have undertaken specific training in order to adapt therapy for neurodiverse people and have experience of putting this into practice.

  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (University of Cardiff)

  • Brief Solution Focused Therapy (NHS)

  • Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy (NHS)

 

I regularly undertake continued professional development courses, within the requirements of my accrediting bodies (British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies and Nursing and Midwifery Council). I have monthly supervision with an experienced and accredited therapist and supervisor.
